Golden Square Hosts a CG Party for Euro RSCG

Golden Square continues its collaboration with Euros on their cute CGI Mrs Rabbit Airwick campaign with a new spot that brings all the lovable furry creatures together into one commercial. ‘Who’s There?’, which was storyboarded, directed, produced and post-produced entirely by Golden Square, sees the team using the campaign’s longevity as a learning curve to help evolve the design with more detailed lighting and a more efficient pipeline.

The ad sees Mrs Rabbit’s domestic bliss interrupted by the unexpected arrival of her friends – the cute Mrs Hamster, Mrs Elephant and the smelly skunk kids.

‘Who’s There?’ proved more challenging than previous ones due to the introduction of a new exterior environment which necessitated a variety of different lighting styles.

Golden Square also took the opportunity to animate more secondary characters, creating a higher and more complex level of interaction, adding to the family atmosphere, making the spot feel more vibrant and full of life.

Golden Square’s 3D director, Sean Elliott, said: “Because so many of the assets were pre-existing, we could invest time in improving the lighting, moving it on from being flat and cartoony. We’ve also learnt a lot from the previous ads which meant we could improve our pipeline, making it easier to transfer animation data from animators to lighting TDs. In fact, we wrote a new tool to help us swap elements around. We used Render Man for the fur because we found we could render up to ten times faster than using Mental Ray.”
