Barney goes back to Golden Square for Ancestry Commercial
With Ancestry, Barney Cokeliss gave Golden Square the opportunity to demonstrate its skill in seamless visual effects. A number of shots required enhancement to help clarify the visuals and provide smoother cut transitions.
In the soldiers scene, we tracked in extra buildings, created false perspective and added extra smoke textures to simulate a tracking shot in what was originally a locked camera position. This required painting in an extra scene that would be revealed as the camera 'moved'.
The more complex child scene involved recreating part of the shot to one side in order to reframe the picture. This involved using out-takes and location stills which were then camera tracked into the hand held camera shot to extend the moving picture. Also in the same scene, some of the graffiti was deemed to detract from the focal point of the picture, so wall sections were retouched and tracked in behind the children. Other work involved removing logos, disguising shop signs and painting out safety cables.
The final commercial is a beautifully emotive piece which was a pleasure to work on.
