Ford - Fiesta Zetec
Its all about the car; well most car commercials are usually centred on the car but in this spot our hero is only revealed in the very last sequence. We are led on a vibrant, colourful and energetic journey through a city at dusk. Speed ramped footage with blended transitions add to the energy and excitement; the camera suddenly slowing down as we reach an ampersand then quickly accelerating to speed us to our next destination. The ampersands that we see on our way are 3D or live action and along with the flame tracked text cleverly highlight the additional benefits included in the new Ford vehicles.
Harry Jarman was the Flame artist at the wheel, removing rigging, comping the Ferris wheel and working on the transitions to produce the smooth camera views which allow the footage to flow as we progress through the spot. Sean Elliott modelled the Ferris wheel in Maya with tent making assistance from Mat Stevens. As Sean noted The Ferris wheel is one of those things that's really suited to being built in 3d, made as it is from fairly simple shapes repeated multiple times to create the required complexity . The look of carnivals and funfairs at dusk is fun to recreate, that magical time of day where rich sunset colours provide a great backdrop to the silhouetted rides.
Beautifully directed and offlined by One in Three this commercial will definitely stand out from the ad break crowd.
