Henka Dance
Henka Dance is a short dance film featuring contemporary dancer Fukiko Takase. The film shows us a girl's physical transformation told with bold cinematic photography and arresting special effects. Commissioned by Vice and Channel 4 the film was directed and produced by Ollie Murray and Rohan Wadham. The film is the directors' first venture into the world of dance.
Ollie says:
Rohan and I had been talking about putting a project together with a dancer for a while and when we met Fukiko Takese we knew we had found our girl. She has this amazing ability but also a beautiful vulnerability when she dances.
The challenge we set ourselves was to tell a proper cinematic story with dance as our characters only means of expression.
Hopefully you don't expect where we take it at the end. It was my first time working with 3D characterisation and Golden Square Post Production created a great surprise finale.
